About Goober Garments

Goober Garments is an active and streetwear apparel brand inspired by "Frankie", 80s bodybuilding fashion and Greg's "unique" personal taste (he's a weeb). Made for comfort in and out of the gym, Goober Garments is for those who enjoy the older bodybuilding fashion, and those who like a little whimsy in their clothing either in or out of the gym.

"Frankie"

Frank or "Frankie" is the inspiration for Goober's unique flavor and Greg's dad. Frank started his fitness journey at a young age participating in team sports and hitting the weight room in high school. When he got to Youngstown State University, he started weightlifting and training with the football team until the end of his sophomore year. Frank continued to weightlift through school and became adept in Poekoelan Kung Fu and was teaching self defense. In the second half of his junior year at YSU he set a new challenge, and started bodybuilding for his very first show six months later. Frank took second in his class, earning him the nickname "Zeus" (the young man placing above him being the overall winner). After graduating Frank became a full time officer in the US Army, eventually meeting Greg's mother "Spunky" while stationed in Panama.

Greg the "Goober"

"Goober" was a nickname unintentionally given to Greg at a young age from his father. While participating in team sports as a child, Greg had a great attraction to fine and performing arts which outshined his athletic interests. He continued his passion of performing arts throughout high school and his higher education, getting his BFA from Texas State University. Frank tried to influence Greg to exercise with him throughout his adolescence, teaching him bodybuilding techniques, but like many young men Greg did not listen to his father. It wasn't until Greg was 20 years old when he started seriously lifting weights and sculpting his body. At 22 years old, Greg took his new confidence and signed with his first talent agent getting him modeling offers from brands like Hollister. While putting his talent career on hold, Greg pursued his BFA while continuing to sculpt his body the way his father taught him. After graduating from TXST, Greg began to notice the rise in golden era bodybuilding. Other gym goers his age began to ask where he had gotten his clothing, the hand-me-downs from Frank. After some time, Greg decided to begin designing clothing inspired by his father, golden era bodybuilding, and his own interests.
